The Federal Bureau of Prisons states: "The Commissary was created to provide a bank type account for inmate monies and for the procurement of articles not issued regularly as part of the institution administration.  Funds deposited by family, friends, or other sources are stored in an inmate's individual Commissary account, which is maintained by the Bureau of Prisons."

The BoP's procedures for making a deposit on an inmate's account require the purchase of a money order and mailing it with details to an address in Iowa.

For the convenience of Imam Jamil al-Amin's supporters, IJAN offers this contribution form where from your keyboard, you can use your debit card to route funds to the Imam's commisary account.  This form details the sort of items which Imam Jamil al-Amin can purchase with the funds you contribute.

Contributions to the Imam's commisary account will be accounted for separately.  A member of IJAN's finance team will disburse collected commisary funds (less card processing fees) twice each month, to purchase a money order and send those funds to the BoP office for deposit on Imam Jamil al-Amin's account.

On a quarterly basis, our finance team will publish to commisary contributors an accounting of funds collected and disbursed for this purpose.

Zazak Allah kayhran for your generous support for this purpose.

Note that these descriptions are only representative of what these amounts might purchase in the prison commissary. The funds will be spent at the discretion of Imam Jamil al-Amin. His options are reflected on this order form, which is specific to the prison where he is currently incarcerated.
